Elevated Feeder Station — Spalted Maple
Same stand, spalted maple.
Spalting is the black line a fungus draws through a log while it's down — it's the map of an argument between two colonies over the same piece of wood. You can't design it and you can't repeat it. You can only find a board that has it and try not to waste it.
Caught early enough that the wood is still hard. Left much longer and it turns punky and it's firewood.
